I have been praying for a miracle for my step-daughter and God has pointed me in this direction. My husband and I live here in Texas while our step-daughter and her mother reside in Kansas. Her mother is very mean and negligent towards her and we have been praying for the miracle to be able to help our daughter. She is 6 years old and is very educated on her mother's drug habits. She was burned with a cigarette when she was 3 years old because she wasn't behaving. She is constantly slapped on her face and punishment for bad behavior is to go without food. Needless to say, she has been the same weight (under 40 lbs) since she was 4. We are able to get her during the summer, and each time we must fight with her about eating every day. I feel that she needs to be in a home with us so that we can introduce her to God and be able to care for and nurture her like I child deserves.
On many different occasions we have filed complaints with the state of Kansas only to have them dismissed. My mother and sisters have also filed complaints only to have the same outcome. On one occasion my daughter admitted to her teacher that her mother was mean to her and did drugs. She was forced to see a counselor but nothing ever became of it. I feel that the only thing we can do is fight for custody since the state of Kansas will not investigate. I have contacted many lawyers and many replied back that the state of Kansas will not take a child away from their mother unless in immediate danger. We feel as though she is in danger every minute of every day. My daughter has told me before that the only time she eats is at school. That means she does not eat on the weekends! Basically I want to put this message forth to see is there is a good Christian Lawyer that would be able to present a case for our family and help us to fight for our daughter's well-being. She deserves a life without the misery she sees everyday.
The court would be in Butler County, Kansas. If there is not a lawyer out there that can help us, we've been saving up and have only been able to save up $1,500 for court costs. I spoke with a lawyer in Kansas that said he would be able to represent us and WIN full custody for us but the legal fees would cost nearly $12,000. I understand this is a lot to ask, but any donations to this cause would help. We have so much love and faith that we know she will be with us someday, but don't want her molded into her mother's ways before that day comes. I hope that my story can be heard and that my step-daughter can be blessed on this day. We need a miracle. God Bless You,
I need guidance and/or assistance. This is for my step-daughter, Destiny. She is our world and deserves a better home. If you agree to assist me, I will update you on legal matters so that you know any donation that was made helped save a little girl's well-being.
My husband talked to his lawyer before and said that this would be kidnapping though. We can not risk this since we do have a child at home. I know that in the state of Texas, CPS cracks down on Mothers like her. It has been devastating watching Des go through this and not being able to have the power to fix it.
